Toy story where is andys dad

But nowhere in any of the films was there a single reference to Andy's dad, not even a simple throwaway line about him being out of the picture. Could Andy's father be dead, or simply out of Andy's life due to divorce or possibly military service? These questions have prompted many Toy Story fans to analyze the film for clues, seek out early scripts and behind-the-scenes info, and even ask those responsible for making the films for an answer.

The end result of all this sleuthing has turned up multiple potential answers, many of which contradict each other. While there is currently no definitive answer as to what happened to Andy's dad, there are plenty of possibilities hinted at by Pixar and theorized by audiences. While Andy would eventually grow up and pass on his toys to Bonnie, and Woody would end up going off to a free outdoor life at the end of Toy Story 4 , it's safe to say Woody will always have a special place in his heart for Andy, and vice versa.

According to a particular theory though, there may be an extra reason for their attachment to each other: that Woody previously belonging to Andy's father. Andy's dad never appears in any of the Toy Story films, and his absence is never addressed directly. One theory suggests that Andy's dad died prior to Toy Story 1, after a childhood battle with polio.

Mozart says Ranft revealed to him that Andy's dad was also named Andy, and that name was carved into Sheriff Woody not by Andy, but in the s by Andy's father. After he got polio, Andy Sr. Nothing to see here, folks. You'll have to decide whose side of the story you want to believe.

In fact, this is one of the few theories about Toy Story that I can confidently say is totally intentional.

But he does, and all signs point to him walking out on his wife and kids. If he had died, then why are there no pictures of him on the wall in the Davis house? Of course, you can argue that he died a long time ago, and the family has forgotten about him already. It makes more sense to assume that his pictures were taken down, and it would take something despicable on his part for that to happen.

If Mr. Davis had died recently, then she would probably still be wearing it. In this case, the simple explanation is the more likely. If she and Mr. Davis were getting a divorce, then he would at least be paying child support, but the family still has to make some sacrifices. Oh, and the family gets a puppy. In the end, their reconciliation and eventual friendship is symbolic of Andy coming to terms with only having his mother around.

In many Disney and Pixar films, the main characters are brought up without one or both parents.
